Seniors and technology will be focus of documentary at Liberty Theatre

A documentary, to be shown at the Liberty Theatre, will focus on senior citizens discovering the wonders of the Internet with the help of teenage mentors. "Cyber-Seniors" will be shown Thursday, May 1, at 3 p.m., and 5:45 p.m. A mentor/networking party, presented by Camas Technology Specialists, is scheduled to occur from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., in the theater's main auditorium. Admission to the documentary will be $4 per person.

Lacamas Credit Union hosts free shred days in May

For the seventh consecutive year, Lacamas Community Credit Union will sponsor two free community shred days in May. The Clark County shred day is scheduled for Saturday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the 192nd Avenue Financial Center, located at 19200 S.E. 31st St., in the Fisher's Landing area of Camas.

CHS Science Olympiad wins state

Winning state once? Awesome. Twice? Fantastic. Three times? Almost never. But Camas High School's Science Olympiad teams hit a new record April 12, taking first-place at the State Science Olympiad Tournament for the fourth year in a row. This comes on the heels of third- and fourth-place state-level wins earlier in March for Liberty Middle School and Skyridge Middle School, respectively.

This trivia contest will begin at 1 p.m., when participants will begin snapping digital photos of 25 locations in the business district. The winner of the associated raffle will receive the "Best of Camas Basket."

Camas will ‘Spring Into History’ Saturday

A family-oriented photo scavenger hunt is the centerpiece of an afternoon of Camas explorations being planned for Saturday. The activity is part of "Spring Into History" month, sponsored by the Downtown Camas Association. This weekend's event will also include a walking tour, historic displays, kids' activities, story-telling, history book signing, and a special unveiling. It will run from noon to 4 p.m., and starts outside at Northeast Fourth Avenue and Birch Street in downtown Camas.

A soggy adventure

Rivers ran through the greens at the Lewis River golf course Thursday, and the filled cups of fluid turned into cascading water falls. Most sane individuals would not be out golfing in this weather, but the annual Chieftain Invitational was scheduled. Girls from 12 Southwest Washington high schools had to grin it and bear it. "It got to a point where it couldn't get much worse," said Camas High School senior Molly Bilsborough. "You just had to play with what you had and make the best of it."
