Nora B. Adams-Coop Nora Berthell Adams-Coop died Jan. 30, 2011. A private celebration of life ceremony will be held. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of arrangements.

Quilt shop will open its doors in March in downtown Camas

A quilt shop will be the newest addition to the downtown Camas business landscape. Washougal resident Nancy Sullivan will open River Quilts at 337 N.E. Fourth Ave., next to Runyan's Jewelers, in March. An exact date has not been determined.

Letters to the Editor for Feb. 8, 2011

What are the obstacles to airport plan? I live in Fern Prairie. My property is adjacent to Grove Field airport on two sides and right underneath the airport traffic pattern. I like the sound of small airplanes. One of the reasons I moved to Fern Prairie was because of the availability of Grove Field.

Six Camas gymnasts qualify for state

After the Camas gymnasts captured second place at districts Friday, six Papermakers are on their way to the Tacoma Dome. Amy Siebenthaler took home the floor district championship with a dynamic performance that rated a 9.7. She also finished second on the beam (9.525), fourth on the vault (8.5) and fourth on the bars (7.85). Siebenthaler snatched third all-around with 35.575 points.

MacKay & Sposito, Inc. has announced the hiring of four individuals with construction management experience. Karl Maritt, of Washougal, studied general scence at the University of Houston, and drafting and math at Dallas County Community College. He has more than 10 years of project management experience, including manufacturing equipment and interior finish construction.

Lila Robertson Trammell, 94, received an honorary Camas High School diploma from School District Superintendent Mike Nerland and School Board member Connie Hennessey last week. The event had been more than 75 years in the making.

Graduation day

On Monday, Jan. 24, Lila Robertson Trammell finally received her high school diploma. The event had been more than 75 years in the making. Trammell would have graduated from Camas High School in 1935. However, for reasons she did not want to disclose, Trammell did not attend her high school graduation and never received her diploma. But three-quarters of a century later, she did just that. At a school board meeting, Trammell, now 94, was bestowed an honorary diploma from Camas High School, given to her by Superintendent Mike Nerland.

Peake-Lightheart

Katie Peake and A.J. Lightheart were married Oct. 2, 2010, at Skamania Lodge in Stevenson.
