Officials believe a fire that occurred in Washougal on Saturday was caused by a discarded cigarette. According to Camas-Washougal Fire Chief Nick Swinhart, a family of five, including three adults and two children, had all been sleeping when the fire initially broke out at 2257 N. "O" St.

Police blocked off a four-block area in Washougal Wednesday as they responded to reports of shots fired and a house on fire at 3275 "F" Place.

As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, neighborhoods finally re-opened and power restored following a tense situation that began just after 8 a.m. and involved a house fire, explosions and numerous gunshots fired from a Washougal residence.
