School notes for April 19, 2011

River Homelink sets parent information night River Homelink, a school for children in kindergarten through eighth-grade, will hold two informational nights for parents interested in having their children attend the school. New schools superintendent shares her goals

New Washougal School District Superintendent Dawn Tarzian is looking forward to being a part of the community. Tarzian, who has served as superintendent in the Corvallis School District in Corvallis, Ore., since 2005, said she enjoys using a personal approach in her job. For example, the Corvallis School District has 6,040 students and 14 schools, and Tarzian said she likes to try and visit six to eight classrooms per week. "I like anything that puts me into contact with the teachers and students," she said. "I hope to continue that in Washougal. The enjoyment I get from this job is being close to the principals and teachers."

Washougal council members need to be held responsible I attended the Washougal City Council meeting on Monday, April 4. Events that ensued during the course of the meeting strongly compelled me to write this editorial. Although not everybody might have the complete background on issues presented, I hope to generate more public interest in attending meetings and holding council members responsible for their actions.

Easter brunch ideas will be offered April 21

Egg dishes and salads will be among the dishes prepared during an Easter brunch ideas cooking class. There will also be "some easy to do pastries and yummy desserts," according to Kelly Bruce, owner of K'Syrah Catering, Wine and Bistro, in downtown Camas.
