Local hired by First Independent

A former branch manager for Sterling Savings Bank, in Hermiston, Ore., is now working at First Independent Bank. Summer Arbogast has been hired to manage the Cascade Park branch, at 11515 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver. She has 13 years of financial services experience, including six years in management positions.

Strand stands out in paper industry

A Camas native has been honored with an award for his contributions to the pulp and paper industry. Bill Strand, a graduate of Camas High School in 1975 and the University of Idaho in 1989 with a PhD in chemical engineering, earned the 2011 Arne Asplund Award.

Dozer Days volunteers are needed xx

Volunteers are currently being recruited to help during the annual Dozer Days fundraiser. The two-day event will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22, at the Fisher Quarry off of Highway 14 at 192nd Avenue near Camas. Activities put kids close to ? actually on and operating ? dump trucks, dozers and excavators. There is also music, food, giveaways, and other activities for the entire family.
