Camas woman brings history to life

A few days before celebrating a milestone most folks will never know, Cay Knapp Smith reflects on something a doctor told her when she was in her 30s.

This original "La Center Bottoms" oil painting by artist Jim Gola, which measures 34-by-36 inches, is being auctioned off to benefit the nonprofit Second Story Gallery at the Camas Public Library in downtown Camas. The painting is on display as part of the current, two-month show by Northwest Oil Painters Guild members, which runs through September. The gallery will take silent bids for the painting until 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31.
